Chart Watch: 'N Sync, 504 Boyz, Sisqo

By Anders Wright

Top 10: 'N Sync has sold another 191,000 copies of No Strings Attached, but the album's days at the top of the charts are clearly numbered. Next week, Hanson could very well displace the Orlando, Fla., quintet. And new efforts from Britney Spears and Eminem are sure to snatch the coveted No. 1 spot following that.

Goodfellas, the debut album from 504 Boyz — comprising Master P and his two younger brothers, Silkk the Shocker and Mystikal — bows at No. 2, selling more than 139,000 copies. Sisqo's Unleash the Dragon follows, selling almost 125,000, with Joe's My Name Is Joe selling another 120,000 at No. 4. Heat, the long-awaited effort from Toni Braxton, comes in at No. 5, selling more than 118,000 units, while Santana's Grammy-winning comeback effort, Supernatural, sells another 108,000 copies at No. 6, pushing beyond the 9 million sales mark in the United States.

Creed keeps up its strong sales at No. 7, with almost 89,000 copies of Human Clay sold, while Cypress Hill's new one, Skull & Bones, drops to No. 5, selling almost 87,000 copies — a far cry from last week's 140,000. Destiny's Child's The Writing's on the Wall drops to No. 9, selling another 76,000, while rounding out the Top 10 is Jay-Z's Vol. 3 … Life and Times of S. Carter — an album that hasn't seen the Top 10 for many weeks — selling almost 75,000 additional copies.

Notable Debuts: Behind the 504 Boyz, the highest debut is Billy Joel's 2000 Years — The Millennium Concert, which sells more than 31,000 at No. 40. Mary Mary's Thankful is this week's No. 62, selling more than 23,000, while only 17,000 Mighty Mighty Bosstones fans decided to Pay Attention; their new album bows at No. 75. Ween's White Pepper sneezes at No. 123, selling just more than 11,000 copies, while Aimee Mann's independently released Bachelor No. 2, previously available online, sells almost 9,500 copies at No. 140 and Don Ho's offspring Hoku sells almost 8,700 copies of her self-titled debut at No. 159.

CyberSales: Clearly, NBC is correctly using the Internet as a sales tool. Only one album moved more than 1,000 copies online last week, and that was the soundtrack to the miniseries The '70s — and it sold more than 7,000 copies. Staying with the classic rock theme, Billy Joel's aforementioned album comes in at No. 2, selling 823 copies and just beating out Neil Young's Silver & Gold, which sells 819 copies. Santana's Supernatural sells 624, just one more than Toni Braxton's Heat.

Movin' on Up: Faith Hill's Breathe climbs from No. 25 to No. 16, selling almost 62,000 copies. Eminem's The Slim Shady LP keeps moving upward, landing at No. 28 this week and selling more than 41,000 copies — if it continues its strong sales, the Detroit rapper could enjoy two high-charting albums at the same time when his new one drops May 23. Vitamin C and her cloying "Graduation (Friends Forever)" move up to No. 46, with another 28,000 sold.

Opening Up: Keep an eye on the progress of Better Life from 3 Doors Down. Its slow, quiet climb continues this week, as the album moves from No. 24 to No. 20, selling another 56,000 copies.

Kinney vs. Kinney: Both Sleater-Kinney and former Drivin' n' Cryin' singer Kevn Kinney released albums on the same day (All Hands on the Bad One and The Flower and the Knife, respectively). To date, Sleater-Kinney holds the lead in the sales department, selling 7,144 copies of their new one, which is at No. 187. Kevn Kinney's latest, on the other hand, sold a mere 753 copies in its first week on the shelves.

Oops!: Britney Spears has a new album out next week (Oops! … I Did It Again), but unlike Eminem, that hasn't helped the sales of her debut, … Baby One More Time. This week, it falls to No. 61, selling 24,000 copies, though its totals in the United States are just below 9.3 million.

Bottom-Feeding: This week's SoundScan No. 200: Sole's Skin Deep, which sells 6,863 copies.
